Every business faces a trade-off between creating a sustainable business for itsshareholders and creating a business that is sustainable for the planet.
It has been seen as an either/or choice.
In the rainforest, the question has been – do we leave the rainforest as is or do we develop it to contribute to the economy and the local communities.
Nature Restoration is setting out to prove you can do both – protect the land and develop the economy and local communities. We are guided by Nature and this will lead us to consider all the key stakeholders and not just the shareholders
The development of a range of food and skincare products for Western markets based upon superfood products native to, and foraged in the rainforest, led by the Baru nut
The optimal management of an existing timber production business
The development of a biomass business from waste from the nut business
The purchase of these pieces of land will stop them being sold and converted into Soya plantations and will save some of the last remaining tracts of the Bolivian rain forest. All our decisions are guided by Nature.
‘I break down sustainability into an equation of two halves. One half is environmental sustainability: we should have a lower impact so we don’t remove opportunities from future generations and other species. The other is caring about people who are alive today. You only really achieve sustainability if you’ve achieved both of these things’.
At Nature Restoration our purpose is to:
“Inspire other businesses that there is better and more caring way to do business, and to produce market healing and amazing food/skincare products for consumers especially in Europe and North America”
Nature Restoration will be entirely owned by the people who work in the businesses and by a trust that will benefit the communities in which we operate.
When it comes to the Climate Crisis, many CEO’s are either cynical or feel its futile and that they can’t make a dent in the scale of the challenge.
As Paul Polman, the former CEO of Unilever noted:
‘If we only look at the challenges and the system failings, it can be daunting. But a global effort to build a thriving world is worth it – it’s the greatest business opportunity ever’
If you are passionate about our purpose and would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you.

We are in the process of raising $90m to buy the land to bring Nature Restoration’s vision to life.
In advance of the main funding raising, we are doing some short term bridging to cover costs that we are incurring – including getting 70,000 Baru nut trees planted in communities around Bolivia before we acquire our own land.
We have raised $170K so far (from two investors) and need to raise another $250-350K – either on a straight interest paying loan basis or by having a share of the profits from the nuts grown on the trees we plant.
